Kettukazcha

Kettukazcha is a vibrant traditional procession held during various temple festivals in Kerala. This grand spectacle features elaborately decorated structures, towering effigies, and beautifully adorned elephants, all forming an integral part of the celebrations.
There are different types of Kettukazcha, each unique to different regions and temples:
Chariots: Large, intricately decorated wooden temple cars pulled by devotees as part of processions.
Horses: Tall, colorfully crafted horse effigies carried in processions, particularly seen in Chettikulangara Bharani.
Elephants: Wooden elephant effigies, often seen in temple festivals, carried as part of the parade.
Bulls: Large bull-shaped structures, especially prominent in certain temple festivals, symbolizing strength and devotion.
These grand displays are accompanied by panchavadyam (traditional Kerala percussion), folk dances, and rituals, creating an electrifying atmosphere. The event often culminates in a grand fireworks display, celebrating the festival's spiritual and cultural significance.
Beyond its religious essence, Kettukazcha showcases Kerala's artistic heritage, craftsmanship, and deep-rooted traditions, symbolizing the victory of good over evil and the unity of communities.
