And on a clear day, you can get a sweeping view of the peaks and valleys.
  • Chain Tree: Chain tree is an old banyan tree with a chain around it. Karinthandan, a local tribal guide helped an english engineer to identify the route. It is that believed soul of the Karinthandan kept haunting the travellers who used this new route and priests chained the troublesome spirit onto this tree and hence name the chain tree.

Inside the caves are pictorial writings believed to date to at least 6000 bce, from the neothilic man, indicating the presence of a prehistoric settlement in this region. The caves can be reached by a 1 km, trek, and uphill from edakkal which takes around 45 mins.

It first served as a shrine, and then became an important center of commercial activity. The sanctum has few small statues of jain tirthankaras, but the main seat of the sanctum is empty and no poojas are performed here.
